The Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel is often referred to as the TransAsia (previous owners), and is one Colombo's best hotels. I stayed in one of the executive rooms, and it was huge! The hotel had modern, elegant décor and wonderful customer service.
Restaurants in Colombo proved to be diverse and delicious. Expatriated restaurateurs have helped revamp the dining in the city, and prices seem to be fair across the board. Unlike restaurants, finding worthwhile nightlife venues proved to be a bit more challenging. It's not that there aren't plenty of bars and clubs in town; it is that they change names constantly. One experience that you must not pass up is sunset by the beach at Galle Face Green. The area gets packed with families and hungry folks who come from all over Colombo to sample the street grub.
